We didn't do much this weekend to do house updates.  Instead, we went to a pig show at the regional youth fair:

 I like to go because the judge explains how he tells which pig is better than the others (they all look the same to me..), and it makes me feel like the Pioneer Woman.  They like to mention how good the pig will "hang an acceptable carcass".  That has to be my favorite line.

 Millie was shy around the cows at first, but after a while, she got very into visiting with them.

 And eating a push pop will always make a toddler happy....

 After we got home, I finished sewing another shoe order for my etsy shop.  I do love making these cute little shoes.  They all come out looking so cutesy!

I got a custom order in my etsy shop and just completed them.  It is Frillie Millie in thick gray fabric, perfect for winter.  Living in Florida makes me forget there are different seasons starting just about now!  Hope this little babe has toasty toes :)

I am making my daughter's pig Halloween costume.  I decided to make a pair of shorts that have a round shape to them, to mimic a pig, but she can also wear them everyday as well.  I saw a pair I loved at homemade by jill (great blob BTW) and I decided to buy the pattern (Puppet Show shorts).  It is a great pattern. I easily made the shorts by myself (this is the third item I've ever made from a pattern and the previous two were not too great).  I still have trouble with seam allowances if my presser foot isn't the match for the allowance, but it worked pretty well eyeballing it.

Here's the end result:

 Next, I sewed some cute little strawberry shoes for a 4 month old (Halloween!) and they turned out great.  I chose the colors to match the costume, and I know they will fit her well :)  I also decided to list them in my etsy shop!

Just finished another very cute pair of shoes.  They are the kimono style (points for you if you already knew that) and have tiny little pink bows on each shoe.  I just love the bows.  They really "make" the pair.

Found out recently that the fabric I use to make these shoes is not Minky, it is Swiss Dot. Good luck finding Swiss Dot by the way! I got this remnant in a fabric bin at a high end quilt shop and I can't even find it online (for $12.99 a yard, no less).

Thanks to Oh, Fransson! for helping me name that fabric :) Love her blog.  She is a fantastic quilter.

I love this fabric for a pair of little boy's shoes. These are 3-6 months.

These actually also have a felt liner so there are no rough edges inside. I also have the same type of style with dinosaur fabric.

Ok, I just made this outfit for a baby gift size 0-3 months....what do you think?

I rather like the polka dots! And it is more grown up than the normal nursery material with animals. It was simple: drew a pattern of the tie, ironed on wonder under (heat bond actually), ironed on the tie to the onesie, sewed the seams with a zig-zag stitch (in Navy blue thread to match), and then washed to be sure it would stay together. I'm so pleased it came out so well!
