2 Shuttles on the Pads

On Friday, Tommy & I drove to Playalinda Beach, FL, near the Cape Canaveral National Seashore to get as close to the two shuttles as possible. The next launch is May 12th, or possibly May 11th at 2:01 pm, and the mission is to do a final service for the Hubble Space Telescope. Since the Hubble is in a completely different orbit than the International Space Station, NASA keeps another shuttle and crew at the ready while they are in orbit for emergency preparedness. Normally the shuttle could reach the ISS for safety or use it in the event they needed a lifeboat.
